5 reasons to book a place at the 2022 affiliated club conferences

If you’re involved in the management of your club and the activities it offers, the RYA Affiliated Clubs Conferences provide the perfect opportunity to plan ahead and be inspired for the 2023 season.

Run by the RYA’s Regional Development Officers (RDOs), these events are taking place across the UK throughout November and December.

Here are five reasons you won’t want to miss out:

  1. Explore how clubs can focus on existing and potential members needs to retain them in our sport
  2. Share ideas with other clubs from the region
  3. Connect with RYA staff and volunteers and discover how they can support your club
  4. Hear about the latest trends and insights to help your club plan for a successful future
  5. Participate in workshops to help you grow your clubs’ membership and participation

The specialist club development workshops include:

Club member motivation

Your members have different wants and needs and it’s important to provide an experience which is right for them. This workshop explores how you can tailor your offer to suit the needs of your target audience, to attract and retain more members.

Secure the funding you need

Develop an understanding of the funding opportunities, how to apply and what support is available from the RYA and other organisations.

Increase participation in yacht racing

Discuss the challenges you may be facing when looking to increase yacht racing opportunities. Explore who our customers are, how we attract new racers and what support the RYA can offer to make your racing as enjoyable as it can be.

Creating a meaningful experience for volunteers

Whether looking to make new friends, give back to their club, support young people or develop new skills, all volunteers have a motivation for giving their time. Explore ways of recruiting safely, finding the right roles and making genuine connections with your volunteers.

Introducing the RYA Compliance Toolkit

Running a club presents management and governance challenges. This resource has consolidated RYA resources developed over the years and added some external resources to help provide answers on compliance when they need them.

Legal Open Forum

The perfect chance to get face to face with members of the RYA Legal Team who will be available to answer questions you may have in relation to the running of your club.
