Foyle sailors take on tricky conditions at Sailability regatta
Three Foyle Sailability sailors took to the podium at this year's Sailability regatta on Lough Foyle, a great day of inclusive racing with clubs from across Northern Ireland
The Foyle Sailability Regatta brought disabled sailors together for a day of inclusive racing on Lough Foyle, with crews from Belfast Lough Sailability, Lough Erne Sailability and Foyle Sailability all getting out on the water despite some early debate over whether conditions were fit for racing at all.

Foyle's sailors started cautiously, with sails reefed against the wind, and found themselves working hard to keep pace with the more experienced Belfast Lough and Lough Erne crews. Once the reefs came out, Foyle's sailors settled into the racing and came close to a couple of wins across the day.
Three Foyle sailors made the podium. RoseAnn McGinley took second place, with Maria McGrory and Cara Curran both picking up bronze.
The course, sheltered slightly by the sea wall, held up well even as strong winds forced the cancellation of most other events at the neighbouring Greencastle Regatta Festival that day, making it a solid result for the sailors who did get out.
The regatta ran alongside the Greencastle Regatta Festival, and organisers thanked Greencastle Harbour for the use of its pontoons and the festival team for the invitation to take part.
Behind the scenes, the event relied on a team of volunteers handling everything from towing and safety boats to race officiating and equipment. RYA NI's Oran Young attended in support of the day.
A special mention went to Claire McCarron, who was missing from the water this time due to a hospital stay, with the Foyle Sailability team wishing her a speedy recovery and a return to sailing soon.
