Largs Sailing Club Administrator Julia Gibson has been recognised with an RYA Scotland Impact Award, celebrating the dedication, enthusiasm and care she brings to the club and its community.

The award was presented by RYA Scotland Chair Brian Wilson during the recent Largs Regatta Festival, following a volunteers' briefing led by Julia's son, Joe. It was Joe who first introduced Julia to the club through his own involvement in sailing, making the presentation a particularly fitting moment to recognise someone whose contribution has become integral to life at Largs Sailing Club.

While Julia's role as Club Administrator encompasses the daily running of the club, those who know her recognise that her impact extends far beyond administration. She is widely regarded as the person who helps keep everything connected, supporting volunteers, coordinating events, sharing information and ensuring that club activity runs smoothly throughout the year.

From major regattas and championship events to the everyday operation of the club, Julia is a constant source of support. Her organisation, patience and willingness to help wherever needed give volunteers the confidence to contribute, while helping create a positive and welcoming environment for members and visitors alike.

Anyone who spends time at Largs Sailing Club soon comes to appreciate Julia's remarkable knowledge of both the club and the wider sailing community. Whether answering questions, solving problems or helping people find the information they need, she is often the first port of call. Alongside her highly visible role supporting events and volunteers, Julia also manages a wide range of behind the scenes responsibilities, from bookkeeping to wider club administration, ensuring the club continues to operate effectively.

Her ability to build relationships, support volunteers and maintain a positive spirit has helped foster the strong community culture for which Largs Sailing Club is known.
