Quoile Yacht Club and Newtownards Sailing Club Become RYA OnBoard Providers

Two more Northern Ireland clubs have taken an exciting step forward for youth sailing, becoming official RYA OnBoard providers and opening their doors to the next generation of sailors.

Quoile Yacht Club and Newtownards Sailing Club have reached an exciting milestone by becoming official RYA OnBoard providers, strengthening opportunities for young people across Northern Ireland to get involved in sailing and windsurfing.

OnBoard is the RYA's grassroots junior sailing and windsurfing programme, giving young people the chance to experience life on the water through their local club or training centre. Open to all, it is a safe and inclusive beginner programme where no previous experience or equipment is needed, just a willingness to give it a go. With fresh air, adventure and fun at its heart, OnBoard helps young people stay active, build confidence and develop valuable life skills.

Situated on the shores of Strangford Lough, Quoile Yacht Club has built a strong reputation for combining competitive sailing with an inclusive, family-friendly atmosphere. With an established junior sailing programme already in place, becoming an RYA OnBoard provider is a natural progression that will further support young sailors taking their first steps on the water.

Newtownards Sailing Club, also located on Strangford Lough, has long been a key hub for sailing and windsurfing in the region. Known for its welcoming community, the club provides an ideal environment for beginners to learn and develop their skills. Its new OnBoard provider status will help expand youth participation and create even more opportunities for aspiring sailors.

For both clubs, achieving RYA OnBoard provider status recognises the dedication of their volunteers, instructors and members, whose commitment helps make sailing accessible and enjoyable for all.

This is an exciting new chapter for youth sailing in Northern Ireland, with both clubs now even better placed to inspire the next generation to get afloat, learn new skills and discover a lifelong love of the water.
