RYA Northern Ireland Strengthens Inclusive Safety Practice Across Clubs

Clubs across Northern Ireland are set to benefit from focused guidance on proportionate safety planning in inclusive sailing environments.

RYA Northern Ireland continues its commitment to supporting inclusive sailing with the announcement of a Safety Management Systems (SMS) Workshop focused on proportionate and effective safety practice.

Taking place on 7th March at Newforge Sports Complex, the workshop will bring together club representatives from across Northern Ireland to build confidence and consistency in managing safety within inclusive sailing environments.

Inclusive delivery is a growing priority for clubs, whether through Sailability programmes or broader participation initiatives. Ensuring that safety management systems are clear, practical and proportionate is key to supporting both volunteers and participants.

Led by RYA Sailability Manager Joff McGill and RYANI Sailability Officer Oran Young, the session will provide guidance grounded in real club experience, encouraging discussion and shared learning across the network.

Volunteers are at the heart of inclusive sailing. Providing clarity around safety planning helps remove uncertainty and allows clubs to focus on delivering positive experiences on the water.
