Celebrating New Investment in the Scottish Sailing Community

Dalgety Bay Sailing Club and Kintyre Seasports are set to benefit from sportscotland funding

RYA Scotland is delighted by the recent announcement that sportscotland’s Sport Facilities Fund is set to support two impactful sailing venues in Scotland - Dalgety Bay Sailing Club in Fife and Kintyre Seasports in Campbeltown.

As part of a £1 million investment across ten community sport projects, Dalgety Bay Sailing Club has been awarded £73,003 to expand its changing room facilities. This development will enhance the club’s ability to welcome more participants and improve accessibility for all, supporting its growing membership and commitment to inclusive sailing.

The announcement follows on from a successful RS Feva UK Nationals hosted at Dalgety Bay Sailing Club earlier this year, showcasing the club’s ability to deliver high quality racing events on an increasing scale. In early 2026, RYA Scotland will host the annual Celtic Cup at Dalgety Bay Sailing Club, bringing together talented young sailors from Northerh Ireland, Wales and Scotland for some close racing and top competition.

In the West, Kintyre Seasports will receive £100,000 towards the creation of a new two storey facility. The hub will include changing rooms, a classroom, and social space, and will bring together local organisations including Campbeltown Sailing Club and Kintyre Canoe Club. This collaborative space will expand capacity and reach new participants, particularly in rural and underrepresented communities.

Finlo Cottier, RYA Scotland CEO said:

“It’s fantastic to see this kind of investment supporting community sailing and watersports. This is a real boost for both organisations and their local communities. The investment will no doubt have an impact on their ability to grow participation and support skill development, strengthening the great work already happening at each venue. We’re proud supporters of these initiatives and are excited to see how they continue to thrive.”

The Sport Facilities Fund prioritises projects that remove barriers to participation and support underrepresented groups, particularly in rural areas. Since 2004, sportscotland has invested over £229 million in facilities across the country, helping communities thrive through sport and physical activity.
