The Southampton International Boat Show returns from 18–27 September 2026, bringing 10 action-packed days of boating, watersports, expert advice and live entertainment to the city’s waterfront. 

As Europe’s largest purpose-built marina comes to life, visitors can explore more than 250 boats, discover the latest marine innovations and enjoy a varied programme designed to appeal to everyone from seasoned sailors to complete beginners. 

Get on the water 

One of the highlights of the show is the chance to experience life on the water firsthand. 

Visitors can head to the purpose-built watersports lake to try paddleboarding and kayaking with Rockley, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026. With equipment and expert instruction provided, it’s an ideal opportunity to learn a new skill or simply enjoy a different perspective of the show. 

The popular Andark Dive Tank also returns, offering supervised diving experiences using state-of-the-art equipment. Meanwhile, the much-loved Try-a-Boat programme gives visitors the chance to get afloat with organisations including FlexiSail, Clipper, WetWheels and Team Endeavour Racing – all included within the ticket price. 

Learn from the experts 

The show’s speaker programme features inspiring stories, practical advice and expert insight from across the marine world. 

Legendary sailor Sir Robin Knox-Johnston will share stories from a lifetime of adventure at sea, while Clipper Race experts will explain how complete beginners can progress to ocean racing and professional offshore sailing. Visitors interested in boat ownership can also pick up practical tips from the Westerly Owners Association on making sailing more affordable and accessible. 

Celebrating maritime heritage 

Following a successful debut in 2025, the expanded Wooden Boat Stage returns with demonstrations, talks and discussions celebrating traditional boatbuilding and seamanship. 

Presented in partnership with leading industry organisations, the programme features appearances from round-the-world sailor Conrad Humphreys, sailor and author Hannah Stowe, and renowned boatbuilder Will Stirling. Maritime historian Mary Montagu-Scott will also explore the shipbuilding heritage of the Beaulieu River and the story of HMS Agamemnon. 

New for 2026, the Wooden Boat Stage Afloat brings the experience onto the marina, showcasing an impressive collection of historic and restored vessels while exploring themes of restoration, sustainability and life on the water. 

More than a boat show 

Beyond the boats and watersports, visitors can enjoy a festival atmosphere with live music, late-night entertainment on selected evenings, food and drink, family activities and interactive experiences throughout the event.
