Bookings are now open for the 2025 Women On Water Festival.

The Women On Water Festival is a one day event which will be hosted by Ballyholme Yacht Club on 31 May and it is designed to give women who are new to sailing or boating, the opportunity to explore new water-based activities.

On the day, participants will have the chance to try dinghy sailing, yachting, stand-up-paddle boarding and power boating.

Another major part of the Women On Water Festival is bringing together likeminded people and in some cases this has been the start of long-term friendships.

On the day, all equipment and specialist clothing will be provided, and lunch will be included as part of the day.

Ahead of the festival, RYA Northern Ireland Development Officer, Jess Penney said: “We really hope attendees walk away feeling inspired, energized, and connected—not just to the water, but to the community around it.

“It is totally understandable if you feel unsure about trying sailing or boating for the first time. For many people trying something new can feel a little intimidating and most of the time it's a fear of the unknown. Everybody has to start somewhere and the WOW Festival is the perfect opportunity to give it a go in a safe, fun and beginner-friendly environment.

“You will be able to try a range of activities with supportive instructors and see what you enjoy. Just bring yourself and your curiosity, and we will handle the rest!”

This year, we are delighted to have Belfast-based accountancy firm RBCA join as a partner to support Women On Water programmes across Northern Ireland.

This support will help us to develop what has already been a hugely successful initiative in the context of increasing female participation in sailing and boating.
