Every year, our special awards panel reviews our RYA Impact Award recipients to find outstanding individuals and reward them a National Award across one of four categories.

Unsung Hero
This award aims to honour those who have selflessly dedicated their time and efforts to improving our boating community.
Rising Star
Awarded to an exceptional young volunteer (under 25), recognising the outstanding impact they have made to their boating community.
Guiding Light
Awarded to an individual who has been involved in leading a project or initiative that has delivered positive impact to their organisation and/or grassroots participation.
Inspirational Race Coach or Instructor
Celebrating individuals who go the extra mile to ensure they deliver the best quality, inclusive learning experience for all. Recipients must hold a valid RYA Race coach or Instructor qualification.
Nominate an inspiring individual for an RYA Impact Award
To ensure an amazing person you know is up for consideration for one of our National Awards for Individuals, you need to nominate them for an RYA Impact Award.
Nominations are open year-round, with submissions received by 1 October able to be considered for the following year's National Awards.
The RYA Awards ceremony
Nominees for an RYA Award for Individuals will be invited to our exciting RYA Awards ceremony. An afternoon of inspiring stories, the ceremony is held every February as part of our RYA Dinghy and Watersports Show in Farnborough. The successful nominee and a guest will be invited to attend to celebrate all that they’ve achieved.
