Learning the ropes
Sunsail's skippered charters are designed so you can sit back and relax – no sailing experience required. But if you want to get hands on and navigate the waves yourself, the RYA has got the courses you need to develop your skills and confidence. Before taking a sailing holiday, we recommend taking the RYA Competent Crew Practical course and the RYA Day Skipper Theory and Practical Sailing courses.
To charter a yacht, you’ll need an adequate level of sailing experience and a qualification like RYA Day Skipper or ICC. Requirements vary at different destinations, and you should always check with your chosen charter company.
