RYA Connected Workshops in the South West region

Join us to explore the topics that matter most to your organisation at a local level

Get set for the season ahead with our RYA Connected Workshops

Following on from the RYA Connected Conferences, we have lined up a series of free workshops during January and March 2026. Focused on coming together at a local level and exploring hot topics you’ve told us are important to you.

For 2026 we will be focusing on the following topics

- Embedding a Safeguarding Culture in Your Organisation

Safeguarding isn’t just a policy—it’s a culture.

Led by a designated Welfare Officer from your local Active Partnership, gain practical guidance on integrating safeguarding into every aspect of the organisation, from activities to governance. Share experiences with peers and learn how to create an environment where everyone feels safe, supported, and empowered.

- Developing People: Local Solutions for Instructor Training & Development

Collaborate on practical, grassroots solutions for workforce development.

You’ll explore how to build local capacity, share best practices, and work together to create tailored workforce development plans that empower each organisation to run its own courses and shape its future.

- Creating a great volunteer culture

Telling the human story behind volunteer hours, getting the culture right and managing volunteers.

- Strengthening Your Safety Management Systems

This session revisits what a robust safety management system looks like and helps you identify and address gaps.

Through shared best practices and real-world examples, you’ll leave with actionable ideas to enhance safety across all your on-water activities.

- Sailing Towards Sustainability: Environmental Insights with Dave Curnow

Join Dave Curnow, a passionate advocate and expert in marine environmental issues to explore practical ways your orgainisation can tackle environmental challenges and embrace eco-friendly opportunities.

Learn about the latest developments in marine conservation, discover initiatives you can join, and gain actionable ideas to protect local waters. Share concerns, exchange solutions, and leave inspired to make sustainability part of your orgainisation’s future.

Hosted by the RYA South West team, these evenings will provide local opportunities for us to learn together. You’ll be able to catch up with the latest insights and take away actionable ideas to inform your planning and activities for the coming year and beyond.

Open to all RYA Affiliated clubs, classes and organisations, our workshops will focus on essential themes and include time for you to network with other attendees.

Check out all our upcoming workshops and book your place now, to make the most of these valuable opportunities for us to get together in person and;

  • Gain valuable knowledge for your development planning
  • Share experiences and best practice with peers
  • Take home practical ideas to strengthen your organisation
